Re: Need some help with ring selection for an old TRW piston

I'm getting 1.5MM/.059" on the top two ring lands, and .285 on the bottom one. Measured a stock 94GT piston, they're supposed to take a 1.5MM ring on the top two, and a 4.0MM oil ring, I get 1.5 on...

Need some help with ring selection for an old TRW piston

They were given to me several years ago, finally getting around to using them, but wondered what rings they should get.
They've got 3798-36 on the top, they're for a 331/347. I'm planning to use...

Re: Is there a limit for stock pushrods

I do replace them on mine, but I'm putting together an engine for a buddy, he supplied all the parts, and is using the stock pushrods. Ported E7's, B-cam, ported stock intake, sort of a period...

Re: 86' 302 w/ Twisted Wedge Heads w/ 1.72 Rockers and stock HO cam?

OK, sounds like I should have advanced it some.

I was most surprised that after adding some big TW heads, and a 4 hole throttle body on a single plane intake, the peak power stayed at the same...

Re: Street 331 Intake Manifold Dyno Test

That thread has certainly taken off, I don't even want to try to read the whole thing.

Re: Modifying main bearings for improved oiling

Was curious, I've seen erosion in the block between the two oil holes below the bearing, as if the hole in the bearing is a restriction.

Re: Valve stem seals won't stay seated

I'm just getting some from Ed, these are all metal and only have the rubber at the very top so it doesn't really grip the guide well.

Modifying main bearings for improved oiling

I've seen pics where the main bearing has a hole drilled in it where the oil passage feeds the crankshaft. I was wondering if it's necessary to drill all of them, or just the front one as that's the...

Valve stem seals won't stay seated

Putting a set of twisted wedge heads together. I've got a set of these seals below that I've had for a bit, but were still in the original bag, but having issues where 3 of the seals won't stay...

Re: 86' 302 w/ Twisted Wedge Heads w/ 1.72 Rockers and stock HO cam?

Out of curiosity, do you recall the . 200 specs??

Ed has probably done a dozen or better, and I know they are probably all over the place, just looking for a ballpark of what the .200 and .050...

Re: Filling EGR port on cast iron head

Is there any aluminum that's better for this, 6061 vs 2021 or just whatever I can scrounge up?

Re: For a very mild 302 build, E5 or E7 heads?

I've rescued a set of E7s from a buddy before he tossed them, and traded some stuff from my FHP car for a complete engine from an 86 GT which I promptly tore down. Comparing E7's and E6's the ports...

Re: Filling EGR port on cast iron head

I've heard too to melt old pistons too. I'll go dig through the scrap aluminum bin at machine shop and scrounge up something to use.

Filling EGR port on cast iron head

I'd experimented with fireplace caulk and steel wool on a set of heads, it sort of worked, but not optimum. I'd heard from a guy who said Joe Mondello recommended using lead, by melting down tire...

Re: Out of curiosity who makes cams for Trick Flow?

mmhhh, never heard of them. A local guy has an LTD, he bought a TFS2 to use with a stealth intake, stock explorer heads, 3.73 gears, probably alex springs too. Aside from the cam being pretty sporty...

Out of curiosity who makes cams for Trick Flow?

Thought it was bullet, but saw specs of a TFS stage II cam, and thought it similar to the Comp XE-274 that was popular with 331 guys back in the day.

Interesting oiling system mod

Looks like he drilled out the one hole in the bearing, and blocked the galley to the other. I get that, but it also appears he shifted the cam bearing 60-70 degrees, I don't get that.......
