    Hi Derrick,

    You can't mix the parts. The 1.175 with a 5.400 rod will have the piston sticking out of the block. Opposite for the 1.090.

    I wouldn't read too much into that article. First rod ratio is irrelevant. It flat out doesn't matter. Second, at least with our piston, you're not changing it anyway. The 347 piston has the pin offset .060 (standing the rod up) which effectively increases the rod ratio.

    Since you have been quoted in this article, I figured I'd come straight to the source:

    I've been asked a question that I have no idea how to answer. I'm wondering about piston/rod combos for 347s. I see that there are a couple different methods of thinking. 1 is the 5.4 rods with 1.090 comp/ht pistons and the other is 5.315 rods with 1.175 comp/ht pistons(I'm guessing there are plenty more options but these are the 2 I'm concerned with). Is it possible to mix-n-match the two options? Basically, 5.315 rods with 1.090 pistons? I couldn't find any examples of it so I'm guessing there is a reason for that.

    Any help would be great.

    I just wanted to introduce myself being that I am planning on buying one of your 408w in a couple of days. I have been speaking with John and Iím not one to let good work go un-noticed he has been very helpful and I couldnít be happier with the service. A guy by the name of shifter (Lou) referred me to hardcore 5.0 and CHP and Iím glad he did.
